Rentalmar Blue Beach Apartments

The rooms are big and the location is great, and the apartment was quite cheap. Still, I wouldn't book it again. They ask for a £300 deposit and charge for all sorts of things, like £5 a night for a mobility scooter, towel changes, and leaving cases in the luggage room. You also have to take your own rubbish down the street to a bin. The pool stays in the shade all day, so there's not much sunbathing.

We booked two nights at Pentalmar. After the first night, at 9 in the morning, they brought us a letter complaining about our behavior overnight. Nobody had called or warned us during the night, and nothing unusual had happened. We were sober and behaved appropriately. At reception, they demanded another 200 euros or told us to leave. They had already taken a 200 euro deposit when we arrived, and the rules said we had to pay a deposit or leave. In the end, they kept our deposit and evicted us because we were supposed to pay another 200 for the accommodation. The receptionist was rude and aggressive, and refused to give her name when we asked. The manager wasn't at the hotel. They first said they'd called us at night. We showed them there was no call, so they changed the story and said we'd kept shouting. Guests in the rooms next door were noisy all night, but nobody complained about them. 😡

My friend picked the place, and the price for what we got was okay, though it wouldn't have been my first choice. It's a great base for drinking and partying, with all the clubs close by, and the beach is a seven-minute walk. Barcelona is two hours away by bus. The apartment was on the top floor and had an okay view. You can sleep out on the balcony under the moonlight. It's not bad, just not very luxurious. If you're 18, this would be perfect.

The good things were the location and the apartment itself, which was semi-nice. The beds, on the other hand, were uncomfortable, and they didn't provide blankets. The service was awful, and the staff were rude and unhelpful. They hadn't mentioned a deposit beforehand, then made us pay 200 euros on arrival. We noticed the TV had a scratch and dead pixels running down the screen when we got to the room. We took videos and carried on. A week after we got home, our deposit was returned, but the following week they reversed it and took the money again without consulting me. That's an unauthorised transaction. They blamed me for breaking the TV, and the video I had of it was gone after they'd returned my deposit. Now they say they won't return the money because I can't prove it. The apartment rules are ridiculous, too. We had a 15-year-old with us who found a friend from home in Salou, but we couldn't even invite his 14-year-old friend to sit with us for an hour. We paid to rent the apartment, yet weren't allowed to have someone with us who hadn't paid them. They charge you for anything they can. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here. Stay as far away as possible. It feels like a big scam.
