Rentalmar Salou Playa

The sheets and towels were very good, the place was spotless, and when we asked for extra blankets they brought them. But the view was nothing like what we expected. The listing showed a pool view, while our apartment faced a construction site. At reception I asked to move or get a complaint form. They said they'd send one by mail and couldn't do anything, even though we paid the same price. A man told us he couldn't post photos of every apartment. They show the best views, but what you get may not match. Since we had paid a deposit, we took photos of what seemed wrong. After a five-hour trip, my daughter and grandson looked so sad when they saw it wasn't the place I'd described to them.

The accommodation looked nothing like the photos. The air conditioning seemed poorly maintained, with condensation running down the walls, and four of our six guests came back with viruses. They don't even clean the rooms. Avoid this hotel.

The location is very good, but they need to spend money getting the apartments into decent shape. Everything was awful when we arrived: filthy rooms, yellow towels, paper-thin sheets, walls that looked like they hadn't been painted since the building opened, a cracked shower tray, and a loose terrace railing on the fifth floor. The photos don't show what it's really like. I'm only giving one star because otherwise I can't post this. A terrible stay, I absolutely wouldn't recommend it. They also take a €50 deposit per person.

Everything was filthy, from the floor and walls to the sheets. The air conditioning only works in the living room, while the bedrooms get so hot you could feel dizzy. Opening the windows wasn't an option either, with young people in the apartment building coming back in the early hours. The fridge didn't cool properly. It's a rip-off and pretty pathetic. I can't recommend it at all. You get what you pay for.
