Hotel A Veiga

We came back after my first review and they’ve kept the standard up, so well done to the family. The chestnut mousse is the best dessert I’ve ever had in Galicia, it’s that good. Their set menu is excellent value at 16€, with generous homemade food, lots of choices, especially for dessert, and good house wine. Service was great and fast from this family run business, thanks Manuel. Spacious dining room with nice views of the rear garden.

Breakfast was nice, and the morning staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were okay, though ours faced the road and was a bit noisy, and the bathroom smelled strongly. Dinner was the worst we had on our trip. We could barely eat it, the quality was awful and it seemed like leftovers from last week. Service was terrible and we felt unwelcome, like an inconvenience, even though only two other tables were occupied. We had to sit right by the TV and kitchen, and the menu was confusing. The meals were included in our booking, but we had still paid for them and felt they were giving us scraps.

The room was gorgeous, and the gardens by the river were just as lovely. There’s direct access to the river for a swim, and a full restaurant on site.

The rooms were simple, clean and comfortable, with lovely views behind the property. We got a very warm welcome and the food was excellent. It’s in a beautiful spot by the river, right on the Camino de Santiago.
