Aevum Resort

We booked at the last minute because my girlfriend and I wanted to stay in Maspalomas. The place was cosy and in an excellent location. I enjoyed nearly all of our stay, except for a strange sound from the bathroom. We wondered if it was the toilet pipes, or a neighbour flushing, but it kept happening every few minutes throughout the day and night. That was the only real letdown. I'd still stay here again. The housekeeper was extremely accommodating: although checkout was at 11 a.m., she let us leave our belongings in a secure room because our flight home was late. That gave us a chance to enjoy our last day without dragging our luggage around.

They wouldn't give me any kind of refund after I accidentally booked the wrong dates. I called them the next day while I was outside their premises. I paid £266. It was my fault.

The place was filthy when we arrived. Our 58 sqm, two-bedroom unit was horribly dirty: bedsheets, cutlery, floors, glasses, everything. Outside was run down too, with bread crusts on the fake grass. Two of us spoke to the cleaning lady and we also called the service, but nothing happened. The cleaning was barely done, and after two days we had to shout to get a half-decent clean. This isn't a hotel, and it certainly doesn't feel like five stars. It felt like staying in a rental van in a trailer park. There isn't even anyone to talk to. There's no reception, just a box to collect the keys, and they give you only one set. We didn't see anyone at the accommodation all week.

The apartments are roomy, though simple, and clearly behind on maintenance. They weren't especially clean, and signs of wear were all over. The heated pool looks amazing and is a great feature, and the service was great too. I'd recommend staying here, as long as you don't expect the five-star luxury or amazing new experience promised on the website.
