The view is beautiful, and the hotel looks lovely from outside. All the balconies face the ocean, and the staff are friendly. But the place feels very average, more like a three-star hotel than a four-star one. The rooms have a lot of cleaning and maintenance problems. There was hair in the bathroom when we arrived, limescale on the shower and bidet taps, dirty doors and mirrors, scuffed walls, slow drains, and one sink drained badly. The floors weren’t swept or cleaned, so wear slippers unless you want black feet. The bath is starting to rust, and the complimentary soap smells awful. The safe didn’t work either. The furniture is dated. Drawers stick, glass tables are chipped, and some of the glass is lifting, which doesn’t feel safe for small children. The double beds are two singles pushed together, and one creaks and slopes a bit. The sofa bed was flimsy, dirty, and hadn’t been prepared. I asked for covers on the sofa instead of using the pull-out bed, but it was still hard and uncomfortable. There’s a decent amount of cookware and utensils in the kitchen, but no sponge, washing-up liquid, seasoning, fruit, water, tea, coffee, or sugar. They give out dishwasher tablets once a day. The cleaners seemed slack about both preparing and cleaning the rooms. There isn’t much for kids to do, and the entertainment is dull. The animation crew wasn’t funny, and the bingo and “guess the movie” games got boring. The pool is very cold and isn’t heated. You can’t access the beach, and climbing down to it means dealing with very rocky ground. The sauna doesn’t work, the jacuzzi isn’t heated, and the clear lift was out of service all week. Food choices are limited. Cats hang around the lobby, including a cute ginger one, so keep that in mind if you have allergies. Planes pass overhead every 10-20 minutes because of the nearby base, so it can get noisy. There’s a steep hill on the way down to the shops. Don’t be taken in by HiperDino Express, it’s a tourist trap with unfriendly staff. The Spar in the town centre has reasonable prices.
The balcony, the view, and the area outside are nice. There’s also a very friendly orange cat we called Casperina, though it turned out to be a girl. Honestly, that was one of the few bright spots. Inside, the hotel feels empty, depressing, and badly dated. Our room, 605, had visible damp damage, cracked walls, worn tiles, and crumbling grout. Having to put towels by the doors to keep water out says plenty about the condition. The kitchen is so poorly equipped that the apartment is nearly unusable. I’d rather have had a room 20 sqm smaller with a normal hotel setup. The beds were awful. The sheets were clean, but the mattresses were yellow and heavily stained, which felt unhygienic. We were so uncomfortable that we tried not to spend more than an hour in the room. It’s day 8 now, and I’ve mostly been complaining to my partner. The ceiling fans don’t feel safe, and the lighting is all over the place. The TV has loads of channels, but most are dubbed in Spanish or German, so we only used the radio. The luggage scale costs 2 euros. Reviews mention paid Wi-Fi, though we didn’t test it. The elevator is frightening, even to my 21-year-old partner. The staff are kind and speak decent English, which we appreciated, but we didn’t feel confident enough to eat at the hotel. The location is okay. There are 6-7 restaurants within a 30-minute walk, but you need transport for anything else. Parking is free, though spaces are very limited in the evening. Other reviews make clear we aren’t the only ones with these problems, and the online photos conceal a lot. A nice view and friendly staff can’t make up for a place that feels unhygienic and misleading. I wouldn’t recommend it.
For the price, it’s hard to find much to complain about. Our room was spacious, spotless, and nicely decorated, almost like a showroom. The food was decent and there was something for everyone each day. It was always hot, with a good cold buffet too. Dinner had variety, though breakfast got a bit repetitive. The pool was great, even with a few missing tiles, which I’m sure they’ll fix over winter. The grounds were immaculate, and it was nice seeing the gardeners take care of them every day. There’s a little shop onsite, plus a gym, sauna, and the usual facilities. The entertainment was mostly okay, but two days were off, and one day the advertised kids’ activities didn’t happen. Karaoke was fun to watch, and Babylon band were very good. The DJ/lifeguard could use a few lessons in decorum and grace. His music was too loud and not suitable for all ages, and he came across as being on a power trip. I’m giving it five stars because of what you get for the price.
I’d read things online that made me unsure about this hotel, but it’s CLEAN. My room was immaculate, and the whole site was spotless and smelled clean. The pool was clean too. The staff were friendly and lovely to chat with, and they couldn’t do more to help. The views are gorgeous. The rooms are very Spanish, but that’s part of coming to Gran Canaria. The food wasn’t amazing, but with all-inclusive you know roughly what to expect. There’s a shop onsite with what you need, a washing machine that costs 5 euros a wash, and a spa. There’s a lovely cat who’s here every night. The hotel puts out water and biscuits for her, and she looks well fed. I think she’s a girl, and I’m glad they don’t shoo her away. It says something good about the place. I named her Maxine because I have a ginger cat at home called max and she reminded me of him x There’s a big hill to get to the shops, about ten minutes away, and some restaurants. The restaurants are good, there’s a Spar down the road, and everywhere is about 12 euros by taxi. 10/10 from me.
Really good hotel for the price. It’s in a peaceful area, with shops and restaurants nearby, rocky beaches close by, and a small airport. Bus stops are right around the corner, so getting around the island is easy. The staff are kind, and the hotel is clean. Housekeeping came in each day to empty the bins and fold things. I’d definitely recommend it.
