Bull Costa Canaria & Spa - Adults only

I picked Gran Canaria for its sunshine and spent four happy days here. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there was loads to do, from yoga, archery and mini golf to pirate activities and shooting tournaments. The pools were beautiful and kept very clean. Our room was spacious, with a good-sized balcony 👌. The entertainment was okay, though some of it felt a bit lacklustre. Since we were all inclusive, the spa was free to use, including the sauna, steam room and salt pool. Beauty treatments and massages cost extra and need to be booked. There's a tennis court for anyone with the energy 😂, but I was happy just relaxing by the pool. The beach is right in front of the hotel, with sun loungers available for a fee, and there's a nice walk around the hotel. I'd go back.

The sunbed setup here is one of the best things. At check-in they give you a sturdy card and cable tie marked with your name and stay dates, then you can claim any free sunbed for your whole visit. No 6 am towel run, which other hotels should copy! We had another relaxing holiday. The staff are the best, always friendly and helpful, and the restaurant and outdoor pool bar have such a wide selection that everyone should find something they like. We were here during Storm Therese, and the spa was a real godsend. You won't be disappointed staying here.

I wouldn't mind recommending this as a decent place for friends who want to sit by the pool and relax. There's a reserved sunbed for you, so no early morning towel dash, and the atmosphere is laid-back with friendly waiters. They have dancing and live entertainment every night, and I was surprised how many people knew the standard dances, like Jive, Rhumba, Samba and Quick-Step. It didn't quite meet my expectations, though I can see why others would like it. The hotel is close to the beach, but you have to pass through a gate to reach it, and I'd rather the beach felt more like part of the hotel. I booked all inclusive, but found the food bland and not to my taste. It seemed aimed mostly at UK guests, with some dishes specifically for German visitors. There's plenty of food, and the cooking may suit people who are 60+, watching their salt, avoiding spicy food, or following a restricted diet. I was also surprised that my room had just one bottle of water and no stocked fridge. At the pool, you're limited to one pizza per person each day, and the daytime ice cream isn't included. That felt restrictive for an all-inclusive stay. The bar pizza is good, though, and the à la carte bar restaurant is worth trying. I'd read that long trousers are required at dinner, and that's true. I don't think it's unreasonable for adults travelling to bring at least one decent pair of trousers and a shirt. Some online comments said the staff are slow, but in my experience service seemed about the same as elsewhere in the area. Maybe people are mistaking cultural differences for slowness, or expecting too much speed.

The food was excellent, with plenty to choose from throughout the day, and the pool was heated. The gardens are beautiful and lead down to a gate for the beach. This was my second all-inclusive stay at this wonderful hotel, and I was travelling by myself. It's about 20 minutes from the airport, check-in was easy and quick, and my room was spotless with a comfortable bed. The balcony was large, had two good chairs and got sun for most of the day.
