Bungalows Cordial Biarritz

We spent a week here over Christmas, when the place was full, and still weren't disturbed at night once, unlike at hotels. The location is close to plenty of places to eat and drink, so we didn't use the bar or snack bar, though the food looked good from what we saw. The rooms were cleaned daily and the towels changed. Everywhere was spotless, the grounds were kept to a very high standard, and the pools were immaculate. I'd absolutely recommend it as a holiday destination.

We arrived on 1 September to find bird droppings all over the patio garden, on the furniture, floor and walls. We were exhausted after the flight and didn't complain right away, but after 48 hours we raised it, with photos showing what we were dealing with day after day. We wanted to have breakfast and spend a few evenings relaxing outside, but couldn't use the patio. The sprinklers also flooded one corner every night. The patio sloped toward it, so the water had nowhere to drain and pooled by the door. We had to wade through it to get outside. Some mornings there were bugs and cockroaches floating in the water. My wife slipped there one afternoon while going to get a mop and bruised her elbow. I ended up washing the patio myself with cleaning products, a mop and broom, which wasn't something I expected to spend a big part of an important holiday doing. Reception said they couldn't move us, though they offered breakfast. We declined because we'd booked self-catering and just wanted coffee and a quiet moment in our own space. We asked for the patio to be washed daily and were told it would be, but it only happened on a few days. The hotel later said it had been cleaned every day, sometimes twice a day. That's a complete lie. It was cleaned four times total, and I cleaned it myself every other day with the room's mop and bucket. Maintenance cut down eight branches after we complained, but that didn't help. One evening my wife had spent ages getting ready for a nice restaurant meal. When she stepped onto the patio, bird droppings got on her, so she had to shower again and hand-wash her new dress in the sink. We were late and the evening was ruined. The cleaning lady herself said the patio was unusable. Instead of enjoying meals and relaxing at the bungalow, we just wanted to get away from it. My wife came home in tears, feeling that an important holiday had been ruined. We were simply told we couldn't change rooms, and that was that. We were terribly disappointed. Is it acceptable to expect guests to stay amid that much bird mess, with the patio completely covered? The hotel's response to our complaint has been lies. They said we hadn't complained and that there was 'no record of you contacting their emergency team for timely assistance'. We complained to reception, which is how they told us they wouldn't move us. They also called the patio a natural garden where birds and insects are normal. I would ask anyone to look at the photos and decide whether that patio was acceptable. Was that really normal every day? The response has been tough luck, case closed. We won't let this go. If you're thinking of coming to Playa del Ingles, I'd look elsewhere. There are much nicer places to stay.

The pool area was AMAZING, and the rooms were big and super clean. The beach is about a 10-minute walk, with a supermarket and the Yumbo centre each around five minutes away. Absolutely beautiful place. I'd 100% come back and stay here with my family.

The bungalow was fantastic, with a good-sized garden, two sunbeds, a nice kitchen and a shower room. The gardens and pool area are nice too, and there's mini golf. Breakfast was basic and okay, but could be better. We'd definitely come back.
