Bungalows El Cardonal

There was no air conditioning, the WiFi was terribly slow, and everything was far away. Breakfast wasn't included, and every extra came at a cost, including parking, TV, WiFi, and transfers, so the supposed “Best price” ended up being the worst price. They didn't take responsibility when problems came up. On our last day, my smartphone disappeared from the locked apartment. We'd left the key at reception while we were out. When we returned, the phone was gone, and it looked like someone had also checked my wallet, though fortunately the cash was still there. The door and window were undamaged, and only the staff had a key. They seemed to know that a foreigner reporting a problem to the police over the weekend, on the final day, couldn't sign the report on the next working day. They weren't counting on me finding another way to file one. The condition of the apartment was

During the two weeks I was there last spring, I never got clean towels, even though the information said they'd be changed daily. The bedding was supposed to be changed weekly, but that didn't happen either. After I asked about it at the end of the first week, they just threw the items at me in the lobby. Around the tenth day, local police and court officials came by and said they were going to shut the hotel down. They let me stay for the time I'd paid for. The next day, a policeman was standing in the lobby when I returned, the staff had disappeared with some of my belongings, the pool was closed, and the bar had been torn out. The last few days felt like a ghost town. It was awful.

I had a great week after checking in on 1 March 2014. The food was good, and the bungalows were perfect, with more privacy than a hotel. I've been trying to get back, but there never seem to be bookings on any of the sites, including this one. I'll keep looking. Has Trent come back yet?

The hotel was dirty. I stayed for 10 days and they didn't change our sheets once. The mattresses must have been white at some point, but ours were gray-brown.
