Hotel Riu Gran Canaria - All Inclusive

We were there in January 2026, and it was really packed. To get space near the pool, you have to arrive very, very early. It’s pricey, but a very nice hotel. The infinity pool is pleasantly heated and has a stunning view; even the adults-only pool has no music, which keeps things peaceful. Most guests seemed to be seniors aged 65+ and families with very young children. Cleanliness was impeccable in the rooms and around the grounds. The food was very high quality, with lots of fresh fruit, snacks, excellent hot and cold dishes, and premium drinks. There was plenty of choice. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful. Friday’s White Riu party felt more geared toward an LGBT audience.

The hotel feels like a lovely place to unwind. Even though it’s large, it never felt massive or crowded, and there’s entertainment pretty much every night. The back entrance opens onto the boulevard, and the bus station is within walking distance. Rooms were comfortable, with a great shower, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The buffet food was good.

This was our 27th visit, which probably says it all. We’ve already booked to come back in June. The hotel has what you need for either an active holiday or a relaxing one, with plenty of food options, entertainment, and daily activities. There are ample dining choices and the food is first class. The rooms and grounds are super clean, and everyone from the cleaners to management is incredibly helpful. It’s well located for shops, buses, and local sights, and there’s never a shortage of sunbeds. The Friday Riu Party isn’t really my thing, but we always join in for a while before moving to one of the quieter areas. There’s plenty of choice.

The hotel was a first visit for us, and the grounds were lovely and well cared for. There were plenty of sunbeds, and our room was clean and nice. The location was great for heading out to enjoy the holiday atmosphere in other towns. In the room, towels were changed daily, but the minibar felt pointless: water was replenished only every other day, and there was no English tea. The buffet had a good selection, though it got a bit repetitive after a few days. We tried the Italian restaurant one evening and were disappointed to find it was just another buffet, with 6pm and 8pm slots that were too early or too late for us. About 90 percent of the guests were German. Although there were enough sunbeds, people put towels on the best ones early and left them unused for hours, which felt selfish. The entertainment was decidedly average, and the constant boom boom all day was annoying. There was nowhere to get away from it when we wanted to relax. Would I return? Not to this hotel, but maybe to a different RIU on the island.
