Hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas - Adults Only

Reception service was 100 out of 100, and about 80% of the staff were excellent, friendly, and responsive. The rest were a bit meh. The fruit was lovely, too. But this advertises itself as 5-star luxury and felt more like a good 4-star. Still really good, just manage your expectations. I was looking for peace and quiet, and most guests seemed to be under 40 only rarely, so that part worked for me. One evening, though, a very drunk British man gave everyone by the pool an unwanted therapy session for over an hour, at full volume. When guests politely asked him to lower his voice, he moved to the other side and got even louder, sharing personal details nobody had asked for. Maybe the hotel could have stepped in. There was plenty of food and variety, but the quality was so-so, with a school cafeteria feel. Fine if you’re 50+ and just want to fill up, but look elsewhere for authentic, good cuisine or culinary finesse. The frozen broccoli was a particular why. I also found human hair in my room before checking in, and housekeeping once tried to come in at 8:30am. Not great if you like sleeping in. It was okay, just not the luxury getaway the brochure promised.

I’ve just come back from a week here with my girlfriend. We were on a free stay because I’m part of the Riu partner club. Even though we were a lot younger than most of the other guests, everyone was there for a peaceful, relaxing holiday, and we felt welcome. The staff were so lovely when we were new to things like wine service at dinner; they never made us feel awkward. The hotel was absolutely stunning, with the nicest, cleanest and most relaxing pool area and facilities I’ve experienced. The buffet was genuinely better than any local restaurants we ate at, and the staff were faultless, six stars. By far the best hotel I’ve stayed in. I hope I can come back one day. The party had such a great vibe, and both breakfast and dinner were amazing with lots to choose from. The hotel was spotless and really well maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. They went above and beyond. I loved my stay and can’t wait to come back soon!

The rooms are comfortable, the inside and outside of the hotel look beautiful, and that Christmas tree was gorgeous. Staff were friendly and professional, and there’s a king-size buffet selection made for over-indulging. It’s hard to find fault with the hotel itself. But some of the men in the spa changing room were engaging in explicit sexual activity, and staff seemed to tolerate it. I would have used the spa more, but I wasn’t looking for a gay sauna experience.
