Sunsuites Carolina

We stayed in a first-floor townhouse, a few minutes’ walk from the main pool and apartment development. Parking could be tricky at times, but otherwise we couldn’t fault it. The T1 was fabulously appointed, with super sea views from the balcony. Hesse, the owner, was very helpful and friendly. I’d definitely return to Sunsuites if I visit the island again.

The reception wasn’t helpful at all, and after a big argument the hotel eventually agreed to refund me. It really put a damper on my vacation. I’d been looking forward to the trip and the room because the rating was good and the hotel was close to the beach, but we were given a room with broken air conditioning. It’s so hot here that of course we needed AC, and the hotel listing clearly said it had it. Reception said it had been broken since the day before and they hadn’t had time to find someone to fix it. When I asked to change rooms or what else I could do, the answer was no both times. They said they hadn’t received my money and I’d have to ask the booking website for a refund. Everyone knows you can’t freely cancel on the day you’re meant to check in.

There’s a shopping centre right across the road, handy for groceries and some great restaurants when you don’t feel like cooking. The team is a lovely mix of Spanish, Swedish and South American staff. Most speak English, and they’re all very friendly. Apartments are cleaned five days out of seven, with Thursday and Sunday as rest days. The balconies and lower terraces have a great outlook. Sunny moves around the apartments through the day, so some get morning sun, some afternoon, and some all day. Loved our stay, though it ended far too soon.

The staff were friendly and made our stay really pleasant. It was a quiet, clean, well-run hotel with mostly Scandinavian guests.
