Finca la Calera

The stay itself was really nice until the day after checkout, when I got a message through booking.com from the people working there accusing me and my partner of taking their medium-large live dog, which had gone missing while we were staying there. We had travelled from the UK to Lanzarote, then on to Sevilla and Malaga. When the dog disappeared, I even offered to help search the area. I told them to take any “proofs” to the police and booking and send them to me. I left my contact details and address so they could find me easily, but nothing has been sent. Booking told me the place has 12 rooms in total, so accusing me without showing any evidence is a joke. I also spoke to the police in Malaga and showed them the messages. They said this might be a type of extortion and advised me to ignore it. Throwing around accusations without evidence is disgusting and very, very insulting. It felt like pure harassment, especially since my partner and I have two dogs at home. I’m waiting for a response from Booking now. A complete disgrace!

They cancelled my reservation with little to no notice and arranged another place for me. It ended up costing more, was further away, and required a minimum two-night stay.

I’d booked two nights after my flight was cancelled. The owners were genuinely welcoming, friendly, and very helpful when things were difficult. The rooms were clean and well stocked.

There’s a huge courtyard, with a parking spot right outside the door, and the gated property made us feel very safe. We were welcomed warmly even though we arrived early, and could go straight into our apartment. The pool looked fantastic, as did the roof terrace, though we didn’t use it. The place is quite remote, with no restaurants or bars nearby, but a car puts everything within easy reach. We appreciated being so close to the airport, and despite that, it was very peaceful. You only hear and see planes from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The beds and pillows were excellent, so we slept well. The shower had a strong flow of hot water and a glass corner entrance, and the bath towels were large and very good. Don’t expect luxury, but everything you need is there. We couldn’t find a German TV channel despite trying, so eventually gave up on watching TV. We’d definitely stay again.
