Pension - Venta de Terreros

It’s a simple place, and the prices match that. The location works well for the beaches, with lots of other restaurants close by, and I’ll probably come back. My room was clean and the bed was made daily without me having to ask. Take care with the water, it gets very hot very fast. The restaurant’s seafood paella was excellent, with seafood that wasn’t dry and tasteless like some poor versions can be.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and once they got to us they were quick to bring what we needed. Service took a little while to start, though. They have a high chair, but it has no front bar, so I had to use my belt to secure my wriggly six-month-old, who could already sit up. That seems to be an issue at quite a few Spanish restaurants, not just this one. The food was tasty, if not the best I’ve ever had. It’s a nice spot just off the beach in San Juan, though it’s a shame there’s no sea view.

We stopped by on a Tuesday and got excellent service. The bar was busy, and lunch starts at 13:30. The owner gave us a friendly welcome. The baguette was fabulous and the beer was excellent. I liked the coffee’s taste, though it was a touch too milky for me.

Really good prices, attentive staff, and excellent food. A great traditional Spanish restaurant.
