San Juan de Plan is steep, peaceful, and beautiful, like the other villages in the valley. It has just a few amenities, including a small grocery store at the top and a riverside picnic area with a terrace. Plan is only 1.2 km away, with more services, restaurants, and the tourist office. You can get there easily on foot by a path or by road. The guesthouse was a pleasant base for our planned hikes. It's a quiet, family-run mountain place managed by Josefina and her two children. Marga looks after guests and provides exceptional service. Her mother was a pioneer of rural tourism in Spain, and it was a pleasure to talk with such a brave, enterprising woman. The place isn't luxurious, but it’s very comfortable and spotless. Our spacious, welcoming room had two 1.35m beds and two balconies. We loved the beautiful antique furniture, and there were plenty of electrical outlets. Breakfast was continental, simple but complete. Some things could use updating, perhaps the little terrace in the entrance courtyard and a few bedroom or bathroom details. Still, if we hike in that valley again, we'd stay there once more.

I’ve been returning to Casa Laplaza for over 20 years, and I hope to keep coming for many more. It’s a little corner of paradise for me. The rustic house, with its stone walls and charming patio, feels rooted in the rural past of the Aragonese Pyrenees. Marga is lovely, always friendly and helpful, and does whatever she can to make guests’ stays more enjoyable. And the breakfast is hard to describe: a buffet with everything you need, all made up of high-quality products. Just the thing to start the day and fuel up for all the wonderful places in the Chistau Valley.

The village is pretty and not too crowded, and the place is well worth recommending for a Pyrenees visit or a stopover. Booking by phone a month ahead was easy and the service was excellent, even though I didn't ask anything then. We got the same excellent welcome when we arrived. The room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was very good, with local products.

After several kilometers of hiking, we really appreciated the comfortable beds at this traditional, cozy, clean hostel. Marga is a wonderful person, and the people in the valley are lovely. We didn't get to try their breakfasts, which looked very complete, since we chose to spend more time in nature. The valley is beautiful. The room had unbeatable mountain views, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. It’s a highly recommended place to stay in the heart of the Chistau Valley. I’d definitely come back.
