Dorma Victoria Palace

The breakfast buffet was a real highlight, with everything you could want and delicious food each morning. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and our room was spacious and pretty, though noise might carry since it didn’t seem very soundproof. It’s beautifully placed within easy walking distance of the charming old town and San Lorenzo de El Escorial. The room key cards kept stopping working, so I had to go downstairs to have them reprogrammed. They were in a pocket by themselves, with no phone or credit cards, so I’m not sure why that happened. We’d stay again for all the good parts.

The only snag was having no hotel parking, though we found a free street space right beside it. Exe Victoria Palace is a tastefully restored historic building, just a short walk from El Escorial. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, and breakfast has lots of fresh choices. It keeps the old-world feel while still being comfortable and up to date.

The buffet breakfast was generous, and the hotel has a pleasant dining area and nice, clean rooms. There’s no room service as such, but you can order from the restaurant menu and have the food sent to your room, which many of us did. I’d recommend it, especially for large events, which the staff are clearly good at organizing. The hotel has plenty of history and sits in the heart of beautiful historic San Lorenzo del Escorial. We were there for our wedding, which was held at the local golf club, and the stay was memorable and easy to manage. I’d booked lots of rooms for the bride and groom, their families, and friends. I was a little nervous since it was my first time staying there, but there was no need to be. The front desk team and the event organizers, especially Marcos, were wonderfully helpful through a booking process that got complicated with so many rooms and changes. They helped everyone settle in and handled our questions and doubts quickly. They also clearly know how to manage large room bookings for wedding parties.

The location and breakfast were very good, which makes the rest a pity. Noise carried in from other rooms, and the WiFi didn’t work. I couldn’t sleep, so for me that’s a dealbreaker. I also had to turn off the air conditioning because it kept warming the room instead of following the temperature controls.
