San Lorenzo Suites

Belen, the owner, was incredibly helpful and made us feel right at home. San Lorenzo Suites was spotless, in a perfect location, and had stunning views of the monastery. It really felt like a home away from home. A fabulous little gem, highly recommend.

Thanks to Belen, we got sorted out after hours. There’s no staff available after 6pm, so keep that in mind. The rooms are great, and it’s an amazing spot for a nice getaway. Towels are replaced every three days, which can be a surprise. The town is small and quiet, though it comes back to life on the weekend. People are extremely friendly and hospitable. It’s not a good choice if you need to get back to Madrid.

The room was excellent, modern, clean, and functional, and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We stayed three nights, choosing this place over Madrid, and it’s ideally located for the Monastery. The bus station is a five-minute walk away, and the train station is 30 minutes on foot. Parking is difficult. If you can’t find a space on the street, you’ll need to use the main car park under the square. A friend who lives in El Escorial recommended the hotel, and they were right. It’s a great place to stay.

The worst hotel stay we've ever had, mostly because we couldn't sleep. The room had no air conditioning or ventilation, and the cleaning smell was so strong that we opened the balcony doors. With the windows left open to get some air, street noise from people, motorcycles, cars, dogs and more kept us awake until 3am. Getting there was a mess too. We were told there'd be a space to unload our bags, but a hotel work truck was parked in it. We had to drive around town looking for parking, then carry our luggage hundreds of meters from the lot to the room. When we raised it with the manager, she shrugged and said it happened all the time. Avoid this place if you value your sleep and sanity.
