Camping La Ardilla Roja

We stopped here on the way to Portugal and it worked fine for that. The place is basic, clean and tidy, though the pool and bar have limited hours. There’s a good chiringuito within walking distance, with a nice menu and view. I wouldn’t plan to spend much time here.

The campsite is small and friendly, and there’s a lovely lake just three minutes away where you can take an inflatable boat for a pleasant afternoon. The washrooms let it down: often smelly and not cleaned well, with lukewarm water and broken taps or toilets left unrepaired. I spoke to staff about the cleanliness, but little changed. I’d visit again if they sorted that out.

We went out of season, so most of the amenities were closed and I can’t really comment on them. Still, it was a clean, quiet and pleasant campsite, and the lake is a real bonus, especially in summer. Prices were good too. I’d probably come back.

A lovely setting, and it was quiet during our May stay. The staff were helpful. Facilities were clean, though a little run down.
