The views from the hotel were amazing, but I wouldn't stay here again. My room did eventually cool down, though the sewage smell never went away, and €290 for one night was not worth it. On arrival there was a half-dead roach in the middle of the room. I was in Superior room 125 for one night during a motorcycle trip and hadn't expected much. The hallway at the far end, where the room was, smelled of sewage, and the room was no better. The AC wasn't working, and the ceiling fan made such an awful noise that I couldn't use it. Reception sent someone when I called. They said the AC had to be turned back on because it had been off from work LAST week. They put some kind of air purifier in the room and sprayed a solution to help with the smell. It was pleasant outside, but I couldn't leave the doors open at night: the room was on the first floor and anyone could walk in. There were no other windows that opened.

We stopped for a tasty snack and didn't stay overnight. The hotel sits nicely above San Sebastian, with beautiful courtyards and gardens. We also spotted a lovely sheltered swimming pool.

The gardens were stunning, and the pool area was better than we expected. We had a relaxed, peaceful time at this very comfortable hotel and enjoyed the food.

The restaurant was great, with creative, tasty versions of local dishes and really good wines. The daily specials were often worth trying. Highlights for me were the stuffed courgettes, octopus, and grouper 'cake'. The pool could ideally stay open a bit longer, though it was empty much of the time I was there, so I can see why extending the hours might be hard to justify. We spent 10 glorious days here, thanks to the warm, professional, generous staff. Everyone went above and beyond, from reception and the cleaners to the waiters. It's an incredible place in a beautiful building, and I hope we can return. The only thing I'd change was some of the other guests: a few were rude and impatient in a way that was unjustified and unpleasant for both staff and fellow holidaymakers. Thank you.

The hotel is quiet and clean, and the location is top. Reception service was amazing, though the breakfast staff weren't very attentive. That's why I gave service four stars.
