Albergue Juvenil Ondarreta

Our “family room” had a small balcony, which was nice, and the kitchen and dining area had everything we needed. The price was okay for what you get. It’s a bit away from the city centre and pubs, but it’s quiet and near Ondarreta beach. A good location if you’re doing the Camino (pilgrim route).

A good find on the Camino, and still only about 300 m from a fantastic beach in San Sebastian. They spoke English, and calling to book is a good idea. Same-day booking worked for us in August.

It was one of the cheapest hostels I found in San Sebastian and right on the Camino. I had a six-person room with its own bathroom, and there’s a big kitchen and dining area. The building has four floors, with the kitchen at the bottom, but there’s an elevator. Clothes don’t dry easily outside overnight, so pay for the dryer or hang small things in your room.

The beds were comfortable, and it’s a lovely, quiet place with good facilities, very close to the Camino. It was August, though perhaps I just got lucky. You can walk over the lovely beach to reach the town centre. I didn’t cook since I was in San Sebastian and the food is amazing, but the kitchen looked nice. There wasn’t much of an atmosphere, and I hardly saw any fellow peregrinos while I was there. I might even have been the only one. All in all, a lovely place.
