Balea Hostel

This place was really filthy, and I didn't feel safe. The rooms don't have locks, so anyone can walk in. Old food and insects were in the drawers under the bed, and I wouldn't leave valuables there because the flimsy, substandard locks could easily be broken off. A man staying there also made us feel uncomfortable.

The worst hostel. We left our luggage there, but reception shuts at 8:00, so if you don't get back by then, you can't get your bag. Why they don't tell you that when you leave your luggage is a mystery. It's far from the city, around 30 minutes by bus and on foot. There's no security, anyone can come and go, and the toilets and showers aren't separated for men and women. The place is dirty and unsafe. Pay 50 euros and stay somewhere more decent.

The entrance was kind of hard to spot, and the hostel is pretty far from the city center, so it doesn't really work well for pilgrims. The rooms got very hot at night, and the kitchen felt a bit damp.

The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice, with a common area where people could meet each other. For the price, I think this hostel is a good deal. The walk into town is pleasant and buses come often, though the location itself isn't great. The rooms could use better ventilation, the kitchen equipment needs improvement, and the showers could be cleaner.
