Nine years ago my wife and I spent three nights here and found it very pleasant and simple, better than we’d normally expect from an officially listed 1 star hostelry. We paid 275€ in total back then. Looking now, it’s 500€ per night. Ouch!

The bed and blanket were super comfortable, and the room was roomy enough for me on my own. Staff were kind too. Great spot in the old town if you’re hiking to Santiago bateria, with the trail entrance just 30 seconds away.

The stairs are the main thing to know about, especially if you arrive with a suitcase as big as mine. I got help with it, and the climb was easy to get past once I experienced the place. There’s no alternative to the stairs, so I wouldn’t recommend Pension Amaiur for wheelchair users. It’s quiet, private, and set in one of the oldest buildings around. My cozy, beautiful bedroom made for a peaceful one-night stay, and the owners are so sweet. I’d suggest it for laidback couples, friends, or solo travelers who enjoy a quiet atmosphere.

Our room was modern, spacious, and had plenty of storage. We also had a terrace looking over the street, just right for coffee in the morning or a drink later on. Tea, coffee, biscuits, and kitchen facilities were available too. The staff were so friendly, and the Old Town location is the best. Loved our stay here, wow. This Pension deserves well above 3 stars. Keep up the fantastic work and service!

We got there early, but our bags were looked after and taken up to the room once it was ready. The location was perfect and the host was wonderful. Great value, and I’d definitely come back.
