Hotel Zenit San Sebastián

The restaurant was great, and I’d definitely make sure to have the breakfast. My room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff were friendly with quality service. It was my first time staying here, and I’d gladly book again. One thing to bear in mind: cars can make the street-facing rooms loud, so it may be worth asking for a quiet room.

The room itself was large and nice, as was the bed, and the upgrade came with bathrobes and slippers. For a moment I thought Zenit might still redeem itself. It didn’t. The key card only worked if I held it at just the right distance from the door. There was no milk for café con leche, and no teaspoon, so I stirred my drink with the toothbrush. And a four-star hotel charging €2 for water? Seriously? The garage was a nightmare. It was so dark that I struggled to find my assigned spot in the confusing layout. I know the layout isn’t the hotel’s fault, but at least turn on the lights, for convenience and safety. The white writing on a light green background made the signs hard to read too. Once I found the spot, I couldn’t find the lift. A man took pity on me and showed me the light switch. How was I supposed to find it in the dark? All this for €18 a night. The shower was another mess. The wall shower wouldn’t face forward, and the rain shower didn’t work at first. After about 15 seconds using the wall one, the rain shower suddenly started and soaked my hair, giving me a shock. The restaurant is closed on Sunday. At the café, only cold food was available, with surly service. I would NOT recommend this hotel.

I slept really well throughout my stay, thanks to a comfortable bed. The shower was great too, with lovely water pressure that made it relaxing to use. I had a wonderful, thoroughly satisfying stay here.

My room was clean and breakfast was good. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I had some trouble booking transport, but the ladies at the front desk were patient with me and helped get all the reservations done. Best experience I’ve had in Europe. I’d strongly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to San Sebastian.
