I slept incredibly well here, which I hadn’t expected in Ibiza. Nights were completely quiet. The room was clean, well maintained, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast had a good range of fresh, tasty options. From arrival onward, the staff were warm, attentive, and always happy to help. We had a really positive stay and would gladly come back.

The location is a real strength: Hostal Mallorca is central in Sant Antoni, near the bus stop, beach, and restaurants. Our room was comfortable and clean, with daily cleaning, air conditioning, and a minibar. Reception seemed friendly at first. But our stay from June 10 to 18 was overshadowed by €150 going missing from a skirt we’d left in the closet. The safe wasn’t working, and no one told us at check-in that we needed to ask reception for a plug. We noticed the money was gone after about 36-48 hours. Around the same time, the night security guard, who had previously only greeted us briefly, became unusually familiar. He high-fived my boyfriend and started calling us “my brother.” It made us uncomfortable. When we reported the missing money, reception said it was “our fault” for not using the safe. They offered no investigation, such as checking CCTV or asking staff, and seemed completely indifferent. We had trusted the hotel. We’d planned to leave a generous tip and, on the day we discovered the money was missing, had even checked availability for another holiday in September. Afterward, I kept feeling unsafe and had nightmares. We decided not to stay the final night and checked out at 11:00 PM because we no longer felt secure there. The good location, cleanliness, and comfort were completely overshadowed by the missing money, the guard’s strange behavior, and the lack of help from staff. The lack of safe instructions and the cold response at reception made the place feel unprofessional and unsafe. I can’t recommend it unless guests are told at check-in how the safe and PIN work, staff handle complaints seriously and with empathy, and security procedures such as CCTV and controlled access are in place. If you stay, ask about the safe and PIN when you arrive, and don’t leave valuables in the room unless you know the safe works. Report any problem to reception straight away rather than waiting until checkout.

I can’t recommend this hostel unless guests are told at check-in how to use the safe and get the PIN, staff are trained to deal with complaints respectfully, and proper security measures are in place, including CCTV, access control, and complaint records. Ask how the safe works when you arrive. Don’t leave valuables in your room unless it’s working properly, and report any problem to reception right away.

RESTAURANT ONLY REVIEW: Breakfast is served until 2pm, which is handy after a sleep in. Most options cost €7.5 or less and include a drink, so it’s kind to an Ibiza budget. We ate here twice and enjoyed it both times. Friendly service and good, affordable food. Would recommend stopping in for a feed.
