Hipotels Hotel Don Juan

I wouldn't stay here again. The hotel is presented as a luxury four-star place, but that didn't match my experience. Basic fittings were still being added, and the spa, sauna, and steam room weren't working, which was especially disappointing on rainy days. There was no room service, and beach towels cost extra. Nobody came by the pool to ask if we wanted drinks, and there was no pool bar service. The public bar was open to anyone and service there was painfully slow, with a long wait to get a server's attention. People could walk in from the street and use the facilities, and you didn't need a key card for the lifts or pool areas. Not a four-star hotel for me. Avoid.

We were right beside Cala Millor beach, and the buffet had a lovely sea view too. Our double room faced the sea and was quiet and very nice. The hotel has recently been renovated and was exceptionally clean.

The renovated hotel and facilities were lovely, and it's among the best in the area. If we return, we'd probably stay there again, but the service let it down. Check-in dragged on even though only one guest was ahead of us, as the receptionist kept taking calls and chatting with colleagues. When we asked for an iron, we were told there was a €20 deposit and that we'd have to collect it ourselves. We also had to fetch a plate from the dining room in a separate building rather than have it brought to the room. The next day, used cups and the plate were still there, one bed hadn't been made, and old food was left in the room. I would have mentioned it at checkout, but nobody asked how our stay had been.

The location in Cala Millor couldn't be better, and breakfast was amazing. Staff handled Spanish, English, and German without any trouble. The hotel had only opened five days earlier, so a few things were still being finished, but nothing that worried me. Finding a parking spot nearby might be difficult.
