I’ve been coming to S'algar for 22 years, usually staying at Los Naranjos. Since it was taken over, it’s got a bit too expensive, so this place was really good value by comparison. For a week for 5 people across 2 apartments, we paid roughly £270pp, excluding flights. The only real issue was ants, but it was easily sorted by not leaving food out overnight, who’d have thought! There weren’t many staff around the complex, since most stayed at the main apartments or hotel, but we knew that before booking and it didn’t affect our holiday. We know the island inside out by now, though it’s something to consider if you’re visiting S'algar or Menorca for the first time. The staff we did meet were friendly enough. The young pool attendant seemed a bit stand offish, but I can understand that given his age. There’s a local supermarket and a restaurant around the corner. Both have amazing staff our family have known for more than 20 years. We made another friend this year, a very sweet local cat who warmed up to my family, probably helped by the tinned tuna! She slept in our apartment a couple of nights when it was too hot outside. No complaints at all, and I’d 100% come again. Some of the photos are from the local places I mention here.

The apartment was lovely, with a fabulous shower and big, soft towels. It would be handy to have an information desk for the apartments, with details about entertainment at the other hotels, land train and bus times, and how to get to Alcafar beach. We also could’ve used wine glasses, a tea towel for the kitchen and a pair of kitchen scissors. Loved it here and hope to return next year.

A good self catering choice for a short break in a quiet resort, with a nice pool and very clean, well equipped apartments. The first floor balcony runs along the sea front and has great views. Check-in is at the sister hotel, Aluasoul, about 500m away, where we got a friendly welcome and a complimentary glass of fizz. Pool towels cost 10 euros each to hire, and I’d get a receipt or ticket for the return. The airport transfer takes around 20 minutes. There aren’t many dining options nearby, but it worked well for a short stay.

We loved this complex and the island, which is absolutely beautiful. Our apartment overlooked the pool and sea and was very clean. Staff were friendly and attentive, with restaurants, shops, a supermarket, bars and car rental all close by. It’s in a quiet residential area with fantastic sea views. There’s no beach, but rocky spots have been made suitable for sunbathing and swimming.
