Las Islas

The location is isolated, right on a major road, and breakfast doesn’t start until 8:30, which is late if you’re a pilgrim wanting to set off early. Breakfast itself was disappointing, with nothing hot and nothing besides bread or wheat based food. There’s no dinner or bar, and the dinner place they recommended was closed, so I had to eat at another hotel. My room was clean but had no facilities at all, and I had to ask for soap and shower gel. It’s an old establishment that seems to make the most of Camino pilgrims. Just very disappointing.

We were drenched by heavy rain when we stopped during our al Camiño walk, and the kind receptionist brought us an extra heater to warm up. They also washed and dried our clothes, and the service was the best. The hotel is old, but decent value, and the facilities all worked without any problems.

Las Islas is a great place to stop on the Camino. The staff are welcoming, the rooms have what you need, and there’s a lovely pool for a refreshing dip. There’s an 800m shortcut back to “the way.” We found the locals in Arcade less welcoming and the prices high, so this was perfect.

The trail behind the hotel was magical, and the host ladies were super friendly. I had a comfortable night during my Camino, just what I needed to get a good sleep, and I’m glad I stayed. Strongly recommend for a restful night away from the usual pilgrim routine, at a reasonable price.
