I stayed three weeks, and it felt more like a crowded campsite than a properly run hostel. I wouldn’t recommend it if you need sleep, security or basic respect. For a night or two it might do if you only need somewhere to nap and plan to spend the rest of your time out. The showers and toilets were generally clean. There were serious security problems. The entrance lock was broken throughout my stay, so anyone could walk in from the street. Reception was usually empty, and I saw the office computer with guest data left unlocked and unattended. The safe boxes weren’t secure either: one chip card could open several of them, and management knew about this but hadn’t fixed it. Food theft was common with the front door unsecured and nobody keeping watch. My food was stolen, and other guests said the same had happened to them. The maximum silence rule was never enforced, there was no night staff or security, and you were left on your own with aggressive, intoxicated guests. Staff and management were another big problem. One staff member acted like a little dictator, shouting orders at guests and showing no respect. During a storm, I asked him to close a broken window so I could stay warm. He insisted it remain open and yelled at me for controlling the room. He also called me “pesada” just because I turned off a bright lamp while working on my laptop. Who lets this guy deal with guests? His place is on banana plantation. The facilities need attention. The kettle and toaster seemed dangerous and need replacing. The capsule mattresses and pillows were very thin and uncomfortable. Despite the winter cold and government storm alerts, doors and windows were left open and rain got inside. No extra blankets were provided, so I was lucky I’d brought my own sleeping bag. Many locks, including the capsule locks, were broken or had been physically removed. Guests were required to leave from noon to 3 p.m. for cleaning, but it was superficial. My bedding wasn’t changed once during my three-week stay because staff said they only change it for new guests.

Really poor quality. For 25 euros, they didn’t even provide a blanket, just the cover. I was freezing with all the windows open on the top floor and actually caught a cold. Two other travelers I spoke with had the same problem.

A practical place to stay, with clean bathrooms. I spent two nights next to the main roof terrace and met two kind caretakers who were clearly very busy.

The location and price are the only real positives. I should have read the Google reviews as well as Booking and Agoda. There’s no soundproofing, so you can hear every word. I couldn’t sleep because guests gathered on the rooftop after midnight, and nobody seemed to check that the rules were being followed. The units get super warm, so people leave the doors open to sleep. The doors are heavy, hard to lock properly and loud when they close. The USB ports didn’t work in either of the two units I stayed in, so we had to charge our phones outside. The kitchen and tables were dirty, and although you’re told to put dishes in the dishwasher, they get left on the counter with nobody checking. There’s nowhere proper to change clothes, and the shower area is badly designed. It gets too wet, and people in the kitchen can see you when you’re outside the shower. There was hair everywhere, too.

The location is perfect and the price is very affordable. The building is spacious and nicely renovated, with private pods, lights, chargers and lockers for luggage. There’s free breakfast each morning, pleasant shared areas including reception, a lounge and a rooftop terrace, and the bathrooms were decent. A towel was provided. The management made the stay difficult. Staff were rude, and reception was usually empty when we needed help or tried to get in for our first check-in. We waited outside for quite a while. Every day guests have to leave from noon to 3 p.m. for cleaning, though the place never looked much cleaner afterward. I don’t understand why guests can’t stay in their pods or keep out of the shared areas. We were sick one afternoon and needed to sleep, but still had to leave. At checkout, we weren’t allowed to leave our bags for the day either. If you can deal with the staff service and odd lockout rules, it’s otherwise a good place in a great spot.
