Hotel Casa Palacio has been thoughtfully restored from what seems to have been a palace, with modern amenities added where needed. We stayed while attending a wedding in Ciudad Real, and found the hotel beautifully decorated and the staff very welcoming. The courtyard and pool bar make a lovely setting, with an amazing range of food and drinks. I'd highly recommend it if you're in the area.

There was nobody around to check us out, and they wouldn't accept credit cards. The breakfast they'd offered for after 9 never happened because no one was there to serve it. This felt like a ghost hotel: you get an entry code from a phone number, and that's where the service ends. No restaurant, bar, or advice. On Saturday, 1st May, the town was a phantom too. A small Tienda run by a Chinese lady was the only place that got us supper. Three stars!!!

A really good place to stop on the way south. The staff were friendly and we had a great meal. Just bear in mind that summer nights may stay above 30 c, so check that the Aircon works. Definitely recommend.

We had a lovely room with comfortable beds, and our shitzu settled in right away. The owners waited up to welcome us when we arrived after dark, and they were very friendly. The terrace, gardens, and pool are beautiful. We loved this wonderful, typical Spanish hotel.

A little out of the way, but worth a visit for the good value. The bats flying around the courtyard in the evening are fantastic. It's quirky and charming in an old school sort of way.
