Lavaderos Suites

The bus station is nearby, and the apartment was very nice. We stayed four nights. Ours was a non-smoking apartment, and the area outside the main door was non-smoking too. I’m not sure whether the water is safe to drink, probably it is, but it has a strong chlorine taste. If you’re sensitive to that, bottled water may be better.

The team responded quickly whenever something came up, and weekly cleaning with fresh sheets and towels was a lovely touch. The location is excellent, and having a garage for our rental car was a real bonus. This was our second stay at Lavaderos Suites. We had the Deluxe Apartment in 2025, then chose the one-bedroom apartment in 2026, which was just right for our four-week vacation in Santa Cruz. The IKEA furniture is a little worn and old-fashioned.

The location may be fairly close to the center, but with the island’s limited road network you have to cross the whole city to get to the hotel. If you want to explore nearby areas, somewhere closer to the city entrance might suit better. Parking is difficult around here, and they don’t have enough garage spaces for all the apartments, so book their parking service well ahead if you stay. The apartment itself was quite good in other ways: the kitchen was fully equipped, it was clean, and the bedroom was comfortable and a good size. But there were no blinds or heavy curtains in the living room and kitchen, so neighbors across the street could see in at night. The bedroom had heavy curtains, though morning light came through the windows in both the bedroom and living area. We stayed four days in January 2026, and the nights were cold. The temperature was barely adequate, and some air conditioning would be needed. Rain made sleeping there torture, at least in the apartment we were given. It sounded like a tap was running above the bed. This happened on our last night, and we could barely sleep. We told the owners, but got no solution or compensation, just an apology by email. Because of this, I wouldn’t choose it again or recommend it.

The apartment was quite nice, though it showed some signs of age. We had a four-day vacation here, and the location was good with amenities nearby. The price was reasonable, and I’d recommend it.
