NH Tenerife

We stayed here twice in the last 10 days while cruising from Tenerife. The rooms were a good size and the bed was comfortable, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I’d come back, though I missed having a spot to relax with a drink or coffee.

The staff were absolutely lovely, as kind as you could ask for, and there are plenty of nearby restaurants, many with outdoor seating, plus a grocery store with wonderful sandwiches. There’s a restaurant just down the street, I think the second on the left as you leave the hotel, with the best passion fruit mojitos I’ve ever had. The waitress named Yane is fabulous. The hotel’s location makes taxi drop-off difficult, which isn’t the hotel’s fault, but could matter if you’re older or need to be dropped closer. The hotel also feels dated, the downstairs waiting area furniture was uncomfortable, there’s no outdoor sitting area, and you need an adapter to charge a phone because there’s no simple place to plug in your phone cord. The air conditioning was no good for me. I’m 64 and female, so I get hot a lot. It doesn’t show the temperature, and when I turned it on, even at the highest fan setting and coldest setting, it barely seemed to run. I checked downstairs that I was using it correctly, and I was. Every night I sweated in bed. With no airflow, it felt worse. The bedding also wasn’t adequate for me: the sheets’ fabric wasn’t very nice, there was no mattress topper, and the mattress was uncomfortable. Our room wasn’t really clean either, with hair left in the bathtub and around the bathroom door edges. We ended up leaving the window open, and although the street noise woke us, it was cooler outside, so we had to choose. I’m editing my earlier review because I realized not all of it went through. The staff are really nice and the location is great, but the services fell short of what I’d expect from a 4 star hotel. The street is extremely loud, and there’s no soundproofing. I’ve read other comments about noise, so why not provide cheap earplugs to help people sleep? You can hear everything between rooms too. There were no bathroom amenities, not even a cotton kit, and reception didn’t have one either. There’s also no kettle in the room. They said kettles were for superior rooms, even though we paid 504€ for 3 nights, so over 170€ a night. A kettle is basic. We were very disappointed.

The photos on the hotel’s own website and Google give a misleading impression of the rooftop bar. There’s no pool or lounge chairs, and the bar is run by another company that makes it quite clear hotel guests aren’t really welcome. The atmosphere isn’t relaxing, and the red lighting looks cheap. The location is perfect for visiting Sta. Cruz, and the rooms are a bit small but the bed is good and the cleaning is done very well.
