Playa Es Cana Apartments

The two-bedroom apartment was a really good size. We stayed in Apartment 308, and the receptionist was very friendly, a real credit to Es Canar Apartments. The rest of the stay was frustrating, though. It was really noisy, with people dragging furniture around at all hours, and the apartment was covered in long black hairs when we arrived, including on the clean bedding and towels. The towels were thin and smelled unpleasant, perhaps like they'd been washed in white vinegar, and they were horrible all holiday. The floor wasn't swept once. After four days of crumbs and black hairs, I asked for a brush so I could clean it myself, while housekeeping walked past the mess. My kids and husband hated the hard beds and slept badly all holiday, though I like a hard bed and slept great. The hallways and stairs had no lights, so it was pitch black walking back at night and quite dangerous on the stairs. I didn't use the pool at all because it was filthy, with a visible film of sun cream and bugs on the water. Is there no filter? I wouldn't return.

We chose this apartment for the price, sea views and proximity to the beach, and stayed for almost a week in mid June. Our first-floor flat was spacious enough for two or even three people, with sea views. The area is nice and close to other lovely beaches, including Portinatx beach and Cala de sant vicent, which I highly recommend. There were pans, plates, utensils and a two-burner electric stove. The receptionist was helpful with the parking and tailgate problems. The main issue was the lack of air conditioning. The ceiling fans were weak, and we only managed to sleep on three of the six nights. After mid June, I wouldn't recommend staying here. With the windows open because of the heat, noise from a tractor churning the sand at 2-4 am kept me awake. The flat wasn't very clean, with hairs in the bathroom when we arrived. Towels were changed every three days, but I didn't see the floors cleaned. You'll need your own dish soap and washing gel. We also had to pay to use a very old safe in the room, which was unfortunate. The flat was above a restaurant, and once we had a strong fried-garlic smell come in. It might have come from another flat, but I doubt it. Be careful in the shower: ours suddenly ran very hot in the middle of washing, so we mostly used warm-to-cold water because the hot water was unpredictable. The parking gate sensors were another nuisance. We repeatedly had to reverse and try again, changing speed or the car's position, before the system read the plate and let us through. The receptionist helped, but dealing with it over and over took time out of our day.

Es Canar's beach turned out to be the best one we found while exploring Ibiza, so I was glad I'd booked these apartments. I stayed for four days, and the great price was what drew me in. The apartment was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. I'd definitely book again.

We were travelling as a family with two small children and rented a studio with a sea view. It was much more spacious than we expected, and the apartment was clean, well equipped and good value. The location was convenient too. Since our flight back was late, management let us keep the room until evening at no extra charge. Highly recommended.
