Hotel JS Miramar

The rooms were very clean and comfortable, though a little tired looking. Mine had a terrible buzzing, humming noise that wasn't coming from the mini fridge or air conditioning. The pool is more of a splash or plunge pool than somewhere to swim, and it didn't have much atmosphere. That wasn't a big issue when the beach is right opposite. For a 3-star hotel, it was exceptional: very clean, great food, and efficient, friendly service. The popularity with German guests makes sense.

The pool area is enclosed and reserved for hotel guests. There was always a free sunbed, and we could leave our things there safely when heading to the beach. The hotel is in a great spot, right in front of the sea, with other beaches just a short walk away. We had a wonderful stay. Our room was clean and the sea view was amazing. The food was very tasty and varied. A special thanks to the staff, who worked conscientiously every day, were kind and helpful, and were happy to talk with guests.

The worst part was the checkout confusion. Checkout is clearly at noon, but staff entered our room at 3:30am and again at 9am. When I challenged the receptionist, he lied to my face and said it was my friends trying to get in again. They had been on the plane since 3am and had left their keycards in the room. He treated me as if I were stupid. It was terrible behaviour. At least admit the mistake. The lack of communication was awful. We'd booked for two people, with an extra person permitted confirmed by email. Once we arrived, we were charged €300 for a basic rollaway bed, a ridiculous amount for what it was. The pool and jacuzzi are outside the hotel across the road and are almost always in the shade. Cleaning happens early in the morning, and if you don't leave before 10am, the cleaners refuse to come. They did kindly change towels and take out the trash. The WiFi doesn't work anywhere, so it's impossible to work or even download a simple document. I don't recommend this hotel.

We stayed eight nights at the end of May and hope to return next year. The hotel is right across from the beach, and the view from our room was amazing. Food was excellent, with a good selection, especially at breakfast. All the staff were exceptional, particularly Pepe and the restaurant team, where the service was first class. We can't wait to come back.
