We came to this beautiful house for a vacation in February 2023, and it turned into a traumatic experience. Bedbugs affected us throughout the whole stay. When we returned to Switzerland, we followed a very strict process to keep them from coming home with us: we entered our house naked and left all our belongings, including bags and suitcases, outside in sealed bags until a detection dog checked the house and issued an official certificate confirming it was free of bedbugs. That confirmed we had picked them up during our stay at Can Picarfort. Despite all those precautions while unpacking, our home became infested too. Three months later, professionals were still helping us try to get rid of them. I can't sleep at night anymore, and the disgust and stress from that Mallorca holiday are still affecting our daily lives. We've spent several thousand francs fighting the infestation and had to throw away all the clothes we took to Mallorca. The owner refused to refund our stay and accused us of bringing the bedbugs to his place. That isn't true: our home and cars weren't infested. A refund wouldn't have made up for the psychological toll anyway. I later learned that bedbugs are a problem in Mallorca hotels and Airbnbs. We'll never return to the island or this house. I regret promising the owner at the start of the vacation that I wouldn't mention it in my Airbnb review. Afterward, nobody took responsibility: the owner kept finding ways to justify himself and blame others, and Airbnb didn't want to lose a cent, despite the bite photos we took every morning and the documents we sent. Keep a close eye on the rooms, beds and mattresses when you arrive on vacation.
