Albergue Vieira - Hostel

The mattress looked 30-40 years old, and sleeping on it left my back hurting. Its cover was stained and dirty, and the old fabric was nearly torn. The place felt dirty and badly maintained overall, the worst of all the Caminos for me. Twelve euros seems steep for this. Check the total carefully if you pay by credit card. She acted as though adding to the bill was an accident. Since it happened to other people too, I didn't think it was a mistake. Just don't go.

I spent the afternoon relaxing in the hammock, which was a nice touch. The bunk rooms were as good as any, and the facilities were clean enough. It's family-run, and they say they don't open the door until 7, though the day I was there it was open by 6:30. Dinner was straightforward home cooking with generous portions. They also serve lunch if you arrive earlier, even though they don't open for the day until after 1. I'd stay again.

Really shabby and dirty. Everything seemed broken, and nothing worked. Do yourself a favor and stay next door.

Dinner was really good, and Patricia even made a different dish for me because my food options are so limited. She was accommodating from the moment we arrived and put us at ease right away. The albergue feels cozy and homelike, just right for resting after a long day's walk. There are only a few small rooms and not too many beds, so it doesn't feel crowded.
