Gavimar La Mirada Hotel and Apartments

The staff were friendly, but that was the only positive for us. We returned on 6 May 2026 after a week and won’t be coming back. The rooms were badly dated, like stepping into a holiday from the 1980s. The food was disgusting, cold at every meal, undercooked, and repetitive. We had carrot soup four days in a row, along with unrecognisable meat and fish dishes, all cold. After three days I got diarrhea and sickness and couldn’t even face going into the dining room because of the smell. The holiday was completely ruined, along with other issues too lengthy to describe. Don’t go, and avoid it at all costs. This hotel and restaurant are a risk to people’s health.

The place felt gloomy, and the staff always seemed grumpy, which made the stay unpleasant. The hotel itself looked run-down, with facilities that badly needed repairs. I can’t recommend it, if it even deserves to be called a hotel.

The rooms were lovely and kept very clean, and the cleaning staff were especially friendly. Everyone else on the team was helpful too, and the hotel itself was clean throughout. Food was good value and there was always something different to suit everyone. Breakfast was fantastic, and the drinks were great value as well. I’m surprised by some of the negative reviews. For a hotel of this size on an all-inclusive plan, the food was what I expected. The air conditioning wasn’t very good, and the pool area only opened from 10.15 am to 6 pm. Entertainment wasn’t up to much either. Still, I’d highly recommend it for the value.

The pool area was slippery, with wet tiles that hadn’t been mopped and pine needles on the walkways. The entertainment was extremely poor, so we went out every night. Drinks were limited to a few cheap wines and one beer option. Service was poor and staff were rude. Our room wasn’t ready when we were told it would be. Guests aren’t allowed to use balls or inflatables in the pool, even though volleyball is part of the daytime entertainment. I really don’t recommend this place. Stay somewhere else.
