Hostal Playa Cala Santanyí

The food was bland and tasteless, and the service was shocking: rude, dishonest and unprofessional. Our waiter, who also said he was the manager, placed only one order, so I had no food while my mum ate. When I asked about my meal, he blamed the chef at first, then had to go ask them to cook it. They offered a free dessert or drink to make up for it, and we chose dessert. But when the bill came, they wouldn't take it off and insisted we pay. When we challenged that, he threatened to call the police and said he was the manager, so there was nobody else to talk to. He also spoke badly about his colleague. A complete waste of money and one of the worst dining experiences I've had. AVOID!!!

We stayed two nights and were lucky to get a second-floor room looking toward the beach, with the sand visible right outside the window. It was comfortable, though I hadn't noticed when booking that there was no air conditioning, and the room got a bit warm at night. We also ate there without a reservation and were seated facing the beach. The service was really friendly, and the pasta and zamburiñas were cooked just right and very satisfying. The pizza was ordinary, nothing special. It made for a relaxed meal by the sea.

The paella tasted really good, but the seafood had a strange flavor and seemed as if it had been left out too long, so it didn't taste fresh. We came at peak time, and getting a waiter's attention took ages. They kept passing us from one person to another. The wait here is generally quite long.

That view is exceptional, but the food is average at best. The paella was just o.k. The vegetarian burger was really bad, dry and tasteless, with no sauces.
