Hotel Rocamarina - Adults Only

We had a great sized pool for swimming and plenty of sunbeds, and it was lovely to have breakfast outside in September. The hotel is in a pretty spot with sea views. Staff in the restaurant and bar were attentive and helpful. Housekeeping kept the room clean and brought fresh towels when we asked.

We picked this hotel for Cala Egos beach club, which was fantastic, and booking directly through the hotel got us a discount. We stayed four nights with bed and breakfast, a good choice since there are lots of lovely restaurants around. My partner and I walked to Cala D'or a few times, about 35 minutes, though that felt tiring after a day out. A taxi was around 8 euros. The cleaners were lovely and helpful, and we booked a shower for our last day after checking out at noon, before our afternoon airport trip. The downside was the bar staff, who we found quite rude. Each evening we'd ask for a cup of ice for drinks on our balcony, and more than once they said we could only have four cubes.

We’re finishing a 10 night stay, July 13-23, 2025. The location by the beach is lovely, but that’s all this hotel has going for it. We’ve stayed at four Cala D'or hotels, including two star places, and Rocamarina is by far the worst, despite being supposed to be four stars. It needs a complete refurbishment. The halls to the rooms are very dirty, with stained carpets and a strong musty, damp smell. Broken pool tiles, mould, peeling paint and furniture and decor straight out of the 1970s are all over the place. Service was poor too. Over 10 days, our room wasn't cleaned unless we specifically asked. Cleaners just replaced towels and made the bed, without changing it, and didn't clean the bathroom or floors. On four days we ran out of toilet roll and tea or coffee and had to ask reception. A Caesar salad we ordered at lunch was inedible, with grey rubbery chicken, cubed cheese and dry leaves. The toilet flush broke twice and maintenance had to replace the system. Towels had brown stains that looked like blood, and the broken clothes rail we reported was never fixed. The pool area is only accessible by stairs. This place could be lovely, but it’s been left to fall apart. I’d avoid it and book somewhere else.

The breakfast was the one thing that saved the stay. My friends and I expected a fun getaway, but made the best of it. Under 35? This probably isn’t your place. Most guests seemed to be around 70, and a Ray Charles cover singer was performing when we arrived. We could hear another hotel down the street playing modern hits and wished we’d booked there. The outside looks nice, but indoors it feels stuck in the 90s. Our king bed was uncomfortable, almost like a springboard, and there was only one outlet by it. Despite what Booking.com suggests, the hotel isn't beachfront, it’s a five minute walk to the sand. There's no wifi in the rooms, so without a good phone plan, expect no service. Hotel Rocamarina? More like Rock Me to Sleep-a.
