Hotel Pinos Playa

From the Superior Double Room with Sea View, we looked out over the jade sweep of Cala Santanyí. Hotel Pinos Playa sits above this quieter stretch of Mallorca's coast, and its mid-century feel gives the stay a classic Mediterranean character. We booked without breakfast.

We left after 4 days because the room was too noisy and unclean. It was in the backyard above a loud restaurant, despite our written confirmation for a sea-view room. The photo shows what they consider a sea view. When we complained, we were treated dismissively and very rudely, and the complaint got us nowhere. Staff admitted the booking was their mistake and promised a refund. We're still waiting for the transfer. I can't recommend this hotel.

The place was beautiful and very quiet at night. There aren't many places to walk apart from the street, and Cala Santanyí itself has only a few restaurants and a market. You'll need a car to see more of the area. We were there in August and didn't find many people around the small pool. The beach is close. I read comments about thin walls and hearing people in other rooms, but we didn't hear a thing. Everything was great, including the food, which changed every day.

The beach is the one real plus here. Our room smelled of sewage, and when we told the front desk it was unbearable, they brushed us off and did nothing. The women at reception were extremely rude. There’s very little around the hotel, just two nearby restaurants, and both were so hard to get a table at. Sink and shower water was salty, and the walls were paper thin. I wouldn’t stay here again, or recommend more than a couple of nights.
