Alameda Rooms Santiago

After a long day, we just wanted to relax, but the mildew smell in the room, especially the bathroom, made that difficult. We arrived after 16:00 and used the entry code since nobody is at reception then. The floor was disgusting, covered in long hair, and clearly hadn’t been swept or vacuumed. Our only option was to WhatsApp someone who was very slow to reply, and nobody could come clean it. If you can get a cheap rate and have low standards, it may be fine for a one-night stopover. I found it highly disappointing when hoping for even a slightly nicer stay.

The bathrooms are fabulous, with powerful, hot showers. The rooms are sparse but new and clean, and the beds are comfy. You can hear the neighbours, though, and a gym’s pump class blasting out made the rooms noisy. It’s an OK place to stay, and a two-star rating seems about right.

The twin beds were comfortable, the room very clean, and the water hot. We were very close to St. James Cathedral, but the room was small, if functional. The climate system gave off a burning-rubber smell. With the windows open, there was a lot of noise from the nearby St. James festivities. That wasn’t the inn’s fault, but we would have appreciated working climate control. Breakfast isn’t served here, though it’s possible to get vouchers for another nearby inn that serves it.

Such a cute place, and the room was comfortable. This was the most comfortable bed I had across 7 hotels in 10 days. It’s right near the college, though, and with the air conditioning not working, I couldn’t sleep. It was clear the college kids didn’t need sleep, but after a 3am night and a 630am flight, I wasn’t happy.
