Hotel Pazo de Altamira

Alba and Augustin at reception were a big help when we needed to change plans at the last minute. They were attentive and provided great customer service. The rooms are very clean, with a modern yet timeless feel, and the value for the price is excellent. I'd stay here again if I return to SDC.

Even with a power cut across Spain, Portugal, and France, the team handled things with real professionalism. They quickly showed us to a bright room facing the market, with a lovely glazed balcony and a great view. The whole building was spotlessly clean, with modern facilities in a historic setting. Breakfast featured great local produce, and the whole team gave outstanding service in very difficult circumstances.

Maria at reception spent at least 15 minutes helping us plan our visit, marking out where to go, the best order to see things, places to eat, and an anti-cholesterol walk in the park. That personal help was part of what made us feel so welcome and enjoy our three nights. We picked the hotel for its location and it worked out well: it's just clear of the bustle, with the market around the corner and everything else within easy walking distance. Our airline changed our booking, so we arrived late, but the hotel had arranged a taxi and the driver was waiting at arrivals. The next morning we had a basic Spanish continental breakfast before asking for a city map. The rooms are spacious, with modern decor, and have tea, coffee, a kettle, and a safe. There are four floors, served by both a lift and stairs, and the hotel has its own restaurant.

After the Camino, this was a great place to spend a few days unwinding. The rooms and hotel were clean and good quality, and the staff were friendly. We also liked being near the markets and having plenty of local spots for food and drinks.
