El Encinar

My family and I won't be returning to El Encinar or El Yunque, and I can't recommend either place. We stayed at the El Encinar rural guesthouse for a weekend and were very disappointed by what we found in the shared courtyard in Tarilonte de la Peña. While our daughter Matilda was playing hide-and-seek there with my wife Mónica and me, we accidentally came across a hidden camera. We then noticed there were hidden video surveillance cameras pointed toward the doors, recording guests from both establishments without their knowledge or notification. When we asked Elena, the owner of the El Encinar rural guesthouse and the El Yunque rural hotel, why they were there, she said they recorded guests leaving the courtyard in case anyone stole something from her rural guesthouses. I find this shameful and a serious violation of clients' privacy. I can't rule out the possibility that there may be more cameras inside either place, similar to the ones in the courtyard. Given what I saw, it wouldn't surprise me.

We had a wonderful few days in Tarilonte de la Peña. It's a charming little village, and the locals make you feel right at home. Elena puts so much love into everything at this rural guesthouse. Thank you, Elena!

We booked all three rural houses in the village because so many people were taking part in a martial arts tournament in Tarilonte de la Peña. The people who stayed at El Encinar were delighted with the accommodation and with how friendly Elena, the owner, was.

The owner was incredibly welcoming, and the location was excellent. Everything was fully equipped and exceptionally clean, with the heating, appliances, and furniture all in perfect condition. Highly recommended.
