This was a really frustrating reservation experience. After I asked why the price had gone from 125 euros on booking.com to 140 euros, the owner acted as if he didn't know. We eventually agreed I'd pay 120 euros when I arrived, but three days later he emailed to say he'd canceled because I hadn't confirmed, even though I had. At first, I saw a triple room listed for 125 euros for one night on booking.com, while the Hosteria's website showed 100 euros. I contacted the owner to book directly. He only speaks Spanish, not English, which made communication very difficult. He quoted 120 euros and wanted me to email my credit card details. Since I've had problems before with my card information being stolen, I didn't want to do that. I asked to pay through booking.com instead, expecting it to cost just five euros more. The room was put back on the site at 140 euros, which seemed very unfair.

What a disappointment. The rooms are cramped and claustrophobic, and the owner was very unhelpful and doesn't speak English at all. I booked because of the rating on booking, which I don't think is justified.

Good price for a clean, nice place near everything, though it's outside the old town.

Miguel Ángel was attentive and friendly, and gave us helpful tips on places to see, eat, and shop. We had a wonderful four days at his fantastic hostel. If we come back to Santillana, we'd definitely stay there again. Thanks for everything, and all the best.

Antonio was attentive, helpful, and charming, and shared really useful tourist information with us. The apartment itself was a great choice: a 10-star place, clean, fully equipped, and stocked with extras that made our stay easier. We'll definitely return!
