Hotel Cándido

The rooms are roomy, and the Wi-Fi and air conditioning worked great. The breakfast buffet was decent too. The hotel isn't near Segovia's main sights, but it's still a good option if you don't mind walking a bit or catching a taxi.

The rooms had plenty of space, but the hospitality wasn't good. The cut fruit should be served in bite-size pieces, and the restaurant staff need to behave more appropriately.

There's more choice of buses into town than we first realised. Lines 4 and 5 stop right outside, and other routes run quite close too. Google Maps helped us work out which ones to take. The hotel was nice, but it didn't live up to our hopes. There was no tea or coffee in the room, and drinks downstairs cost extra. We had expected pools and a luxury stay, then found out at check-in that only the indoor pool was available, at set times and for an added fee. Poolside shoes and a swim cap were required. Staff we encountered after arrival seemed distant and weren't helpful.

The bar service was painfully slow. Sometimes we waited half an hour just for a bartender to show up, and after serving us they'd vanish for another half hour. The restaurant was open for maybe six hours a day, so meals had to be planned around its hours. After a full workday, we came back hungry and couldn't get anything because it was closed. We weren't allowed to eat food we'd tried to order at the hotel, and staff wouldn't prepare anything for the next three hours because of their “rules.” The receptionist also cited rules she couldn't show me in writing or find in the hotel policy. This is unacceptable. The service was extremely poor, and I can't recommend the hotel. What a waste of time.
