Dating back to the 11th century, this former manor house belonging to the Falconi Family was first opened in 1977 as a hotel and was then renovated in 2001. The breakfast room is bright and spacious, with a terrace, and the continental spread had all the usual things you'd hope for. We also liked the well-equipped room, and some rooms have a nice view, like 407. The building seems small from outside, but it sits on a hillside and actually has six floors. The welcome was friendly, the lobby was nice, and the old-town location made this a charming stay. We'd book again and recommend it.

We made good use of the room's desk and comfortable chair, and the fridge was properly cold, which was unusual compared with others on our trip. The balcony was a nice extra, and the shower had plenty of pressure. Breakfast was good too. There were a few snags: the bath didn't drain well during a shower, the shower head spun around under the strong pressure, and the lighting never felt bright enough. Staff said they'd fix the shower head, and I think they would have sorted it if I'd raised it during our stay. We arrived an hour before check-in, but our room was ready after just a few minutes. The receptionist gave us a warm welcome, and the hotel has a lot of character.

Reception is at level 4, which is street level, and the floors have a quirky layout. I liked the internal courtyard, and my bike was kept safely in a locked room. The place was clean, with a lovely breakfast room looking out over the landscape. It's close to everything, so I'd recommend it.

Check-in took almost an hour, and the online checkout link wouldn't work. The room was cramped and noisy, with traffic, the garage below, and doors closing elsewhere in the hotel all coming through. The bathroom was tiny, and shower water ended up all over it. I wouldn't stay again.

It's very affordable and just two blocks from Plaza Mayor, so the location is great. Our renovated room and bathroom were comfortable, and I saw a remarkable number of features to help wheelchair users and older guests with limited mobility. The hotel's parking is limited and was full when we arrived. There's paid public parking 200 m down the road.
