Hotel Colonial

We went three times during our stay in town after a restaurant staff member by the beach recommended it. The gelato was the best, and the quality was outstanding for the price. Brilliant customer service too. Highly recommend.

They even let you shower after checkout, which was great. The rooms are clean, and the beach is very close. Great service.

We stayed in a large apartment in the annex. The furniture was a bit outdated, but the place was spacious, the bedding comfortable, and the balcony had a wonderful view. Beaches, shops, a bakery and restaurants were all close by. Hostal Colonial is a small traditional family hotel, very different from Mallorca’s mass tourism resorts, and known for its ice cream parlour. Next door in the lobby, we could have a drink, breakfast or some excellent ice cream. Juan, the manager, and Jesus looked after us so well. When the air conditioning had a problem, Juan tried hard to fix it and eventually moved us to another apartment where everything worked perfectly. We’d gladly visit again.

We arrived late that evening, and the Lady stayed in touch with us kindly until we got there. The hotel/hostal is very nice and seems to have been renovated fairly recently, near Cala Gaviota and Lighthouse. Our room was simple and not very spacious, but it had a little bathroom window and a small balcony. The stairs up were a bit steep, and the fridge didn’t cool enough. The reception and breakfast area also felt a little too cold to me. The rooms with terraces and apartments with proper balconies look very nice. The area is quiet, though it gets a bit busy at certain times because Colonial also runs the ice-cream shop. We were lucky to have a little balcony off the alley: nobody passed by, and nobody was ever at the windows or balconies opposite our French doors.
