Hotel Martorell

The rooms were good and the location was great. Receptionist Luca was such an amazing host, he gets all five stars from me!

The pool was nice, and breakfast was small but perfectly alright. Our room, though, was cramped and got very hot because the air conditioning didn’t work. There was also a lot of noise at night from passing cars and a neighbour’s dog barking for hours. The reason I can’t recommend this hotel is that my partner’s jewellery was taken from the bedside table on our last day. We didn’t have time to file a police report. If you stay, lock up your valuables or don’t leave them unattended.

We were there for four nights and would happily return. It’s a short three-minute walk to the beach and restaurants, and the staff were so kind and helpful that the hotel’s age didn’t matter much. Special thanks to Aytana (sorry if I’ve spelled that wrong) at reception, who was lovely and gave us some really good restaurant suggestions.

For the price, I felt we got more than we could expect. I think we paid $68 a night. If you’re after more luxury, pay more for another hotel. This place suits a budget stay, and some of the reviews don’t seem very logical to me. We spent 11 days here with friends. It’s a small hotel in a cozy village, with an older 90s look. The beach is close, and it’s easy to get to other places and shops. The owner was kind and took real responsibility for the business. He was also around, helping provide good service. The ladies who cooked and cleaned were lovely too. The air conditioning worked well. The shower and toilet were fine, though flushing sometimes had issues, probably because so many rooms share the same water supply. The shower room was a bit small. Beds were okay, not perfect but not bad, and everything was clean and fresh. There were plenty of breakfast choices, including eggs, bread, croissants, coffee, tea and cornflakes. Dinner had tasty options such as soup and meat. It wasn’t a five-star meal, but it was good. Outside, there’s a nice pool and balconies, with good views. I’d read complaints about traffic noise on the main road, but I didn’t find it disturbing. After 10 pm, a car passed roughly every half hour, so it wasn’t noisy at all.
