The setting is lovely, with beautiful scenery and plenty of options for hiking, excursions, mountains, and the beach. The house itself is beautiful, and the owner is very friendly. She put us in what I think is the best part, the space where her father, the village blacksmith, kept his tools. But there’s a really strong musty smell there. She has air fresheners and other things to cover it, though they don’t seem to work well enough. The house could also use more consistent cleaning, especially in the kitchen.

We were very comfortable in this village house. It’s clean and fairly well-equipped, with bedrooms, so it works well for a weekend away with a partner or friends. The village itself is well worth a visit.

Breakfast was a letdown. It’s described as continental, but you have to prepare it yourself, and all that’s provided is juice in cartons, milk, and bagged pastries. The bedrooms are okay, though they need some renovations. The bathroom is shared, and we had no hot water. There’s no shower gel, shampoo, or hairdryer either. They describe it as a three- or four-star rural house, which I have my doubts about. It needs improvement.

The worst part was the “continental” breakfast, which is just DIA products. The house is very pretty and nicely decorated, with spacious, pleasant rooms, a good TV, and a lovely patio with a barbecue. The kitchen, patio, and living room are shared with other people, which doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
