Alenti Sitges Hotel

The staff were rude and unprofessional, including manager Malo in email exchanges. At check-in, they repeatedly asked how many people were staying even though I’d clearly said it was just me. The process dragged on while two staff members talked to each other and seemed to ignore me; one even took a call on her mobile. I felt watched and as if I was waiting to be questioned, which made me uncomfortable. I’d upgraded to the penthouse expecting something special, but it felt poor value. The amenities didn’t justify the fee: there was only handwash by the sink, no shower gel in the shower, the hot tap on the whirlpool ran cold, and there was no minibar price list. I assumed the minibar might be included, as at other hotels, but was charged at checkout. The TV had no channels, and connecting my phone didn’t work. The cleaner was also rude when I asked her to come back later because I was busy in the room. The upgrade added very little, and I regret not choosing a standard room. The hotel offered me 15% off a future stay, but when I tried to book, they refused to honor it.

The hotel is close to the beach, but driving right up to it isn’t possible. You have to park around 200-300 metres away and walk. After that, the car needs to go in paid parking or be left farther off in a residential area.

Housekeeping did an excellent job, and the rooftop and pool were very clean. The pool is small, cold, and shallow, but still usable and nice to have. The hotel itself is reasonably nice and new, though the restaurant food wasn’t the best quality. There was a bad crack in the room window.

The location is great, and the room was compact, clean, and modern, with a smart TV, good Wi-Fi, and a comfortable, roomy bed. But I slept terribly. The hotel has tried to soundproof the rooms, yet noise from the very busy main square carries on into the early hours. That low, constant drone of people talking, singing, and music kept waking me. The so-called air-conditioning was locked at 23°C, so it was heating rather than cooling. With the outside noise, opening the window wasn’t an option, and the room soon felt stuffy and too warm. I don’t understand why a hotel gets to decide what temperature I should sleep at when I’m paying for the room. Even stranger, both the hot and cold taps ran hot water. At checkout nobody asked how the stay had gone, and I can see why. I wouldn’t come back unless I brought a huge supply of sleeping pills. I also didn’t appreciate the owner calling me a liar. A business should take feedback properly. That offensive response takes my rating down to one star.
