Hotel Sunway Playa Golf & Spa Sitges

We came here to unwind, and the peaceful setting and ocean-view rooms made that easy. The restaurants and facilities are good too, and the location works really well. For the price, it’s among the best hotels in Sitges, maybe even Catalonia. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Dina from the breakfast team, who puts so much care into the guest experience.

We stayed for 6 days and had a great time. The view was lovely, and the reception staff and cleaning lady were friendly. There’s a little shop by the entrance with pretty much everything you might need. The pool was nice, the gym had everything we needed, and the beach club was just 1 min away, with a small food stand beside it. We tried 2 of the hotel’s 3 restaurants and thought they were solid. I didn’t enjoy the seafood place much, though I’m not that keen on seafood. If you love it, you should give it a try. We also liked having a kitchen in the room for days when we didn’t want to eat out. It had everything we needed except a spatula, so bring one along. I really enjoyed the stay and plan to come back next year. Enjoy your trip!

With better management and a proper renovation, this might become the best hotel in Catalonia. It has a great location and view, but the problems currently outweigh the good points, and it doesn’t feel like good value for money. The biggest daily hassle was the key cards. Without fail, ours stopped working every day, leaving us locked out and sending us back to reception again and again. The cleanliness was also clearly a problem. The TVs, rooms, and furniture were very old, even in the renovated rooms. We stayed in January, and the air conditioning only went up to 24 degrees. With tile throughout the room and kitchen, it wasn’t enough, and the room never really reached 24. Our daughters got cold at night. When we told reception, they offered one duvet. It could be a fantastic hotel, but right now it needs much better care.

The hotel itself is nice, but the service was really bad throughout our stay, and the rooms need proper soundproofing. The walls are so thin that you can hear people talking. We had very loud party guests next door, and my calls to the front desk continued until midnight without changing anything. When I complained, they said it wasn’t their fault. Loud noise late at night in their hotel, and somehow it’s not the hotel’s fault? Ridiculous. We booked airport transport through the hotel because it advertises the service, but the taxi never showed at the airport. Passport control took longer, so I’m guessing the driver got tired of waiting. I called the hotel twice from arrivals. They hung up the first time, then told me they didn’t run a taxi service. We took a regular taxi from the airport queue. Later, an email claimed the driver had been there and said we’d be charged. That was a lie, and completely ridiculous. We also asked the front desk to help change our train tickets because the Renfe website was hard to figure out, but they wouldn’t help. One evening around 11pm, smoke came from our stove and I was worried. They wouldn’t let us sleep in another room. They offered either to have us pack and move at 11pm or stay where we were. Packing would have taken an hour, so we stayed. I emailed back and forth with a manager afterwards, and all he offered was late checkout. Pathetic.
