Sercotel Kalma Sitges

The hotel is right on the Promenade, and it’s only a short walk to everything in and around Sitges. Our weekend there was fantastic. Check-in was quick and easy, and the room was comfortable and spotless. Thanks to the cleaners for that. Carina at the front desk was friendly and helpful, a real credit to the Hotel and the Sercotel Group. The rest of the front desk staff were fantastic too. We’ll definitely stay at the Kalma again when we’re back in Sitges.

Breakfast was a highlight, with a varied, good quality selection and especially attentive service from the breakfast lady. The hotel is also well placed, just a short walk from the promenade, and toward the end of high season the room rates were surprisingly reasonable. The extra services were fairly priced too. Early check-in for €10 seemed very reasonable, and late checkout by the hour is an attractive option when available. Our room had a balcony, but it looked onto the back courtyard and other buildings, so it wasn’t very inviting to use. There was also a constant nighttime noise, possibly from a water or ventilation pipe on the second floor, which disturbed us somewhat. I’d ask for a different room next time. Even so, it was a very pleasant stay with good service and strong value for money.

We only stayed two nights, unfortunately. The room was clean and well kept, and early check-in and late checkout until two were inexpensive. The location is great, right on the beachfront. We had a balcony facing the back, but didn’t really use it since the beach out front was better. The ventilation system was a bit noisy, so I’d prefer a room on a higher floor with a view of the beach and Mediterranean Sea. We’ve found it’s better to come outside high season. Mid or late September is less crowded, and the rates are a little cheaper too.

The balcony was cute, the room was small but well designed, the bathroom was great, and the location was excellent. The staff were just fine, neither especially friendly nor rude. But the noise made all of that irrelevant. I was on the third floor, and every time someone in a neighboring or adjacent room used the sink, toilet, or shower, a loud drilling sound started. It sounded like a plumbing problem bad enough to bring the building down. It happened every 10-15 minutes, all day and night, whether it was 12pm or 12am. At first I thought it was construction, but it kept going through the night and all day. I wouldn’t stay here if you care about sleep, quiet, or peace. I’d read about similar noise complaints tied to renovation or air conditioning, and reviews said guests should be told about it. We weren’t notified, and the staff seemed to know about the issue. I also noticed reviews mentioning security lapses, but I won’t post the sensitive details publicly. This place could be great, which makes it a bummer. I expect the manager will reply with a canned, defensive AI apology, so read the other reviews first, like I should have.
